Article D2: Multimedia Production Teams

https://unsplash.com/@thenewmalcolm This is the person I got the picture on the article from, he took the picture. Thank you for letting me use it.

Let explain to you how it works to put together a multimedia team. There are many roles in a Team you have to consider, they are all required for the machine to function, for the gears to turn. Never forget this when you are organizing a team. You need to have a leader for ever individual role for your company, other wise, you will be unsuccessful in any of your business en devours.

Creative Director

Creative directors are the creative leads at advertising and marketing companies, working with designers, artists, copywriters, sales teams and marketers to create a vision for products sold. Creative directors plan advertising, oversee the creative process and give guidance to the creative people that work under them.”

Project Manager

Content Editors

Content editing, also known as substantive editing, comprehensive editing, macro editing, or heavy editing, is a form of copy editing that evaluates the overall formatting, style, and content of a document in order to optimize visual design and comprehensibility.

Videographers

”A videographer is someone who is responsible for recording live events and small scale video productions. Videographers focus on smaller productions like documentaries, live events, short films, legal depositions, weddings, birthday parties, sports events, commercials, and training videos.”

My source for this quote is below.

Audio Engineers

Responsible for all the sound and voice recording and sound creating. Makes sure that its all balanced/mixed. Basically with this guy your project would not be as alive as it would be with audio.

How do they work together?

Well basically, the videographer and the audio engineer would work perfectly together, combination of what you see in the video and what the engineer does to make it stand out will be perfect. The content manager edit it to make sure everything looks and sounds good together. Planner has a perfect guideline for the whole team to go off of, and creative director basically made the whole idea and tells everyone what his vision is about this project since he knows what he wants. He also advertises the project for the audience. These are all important to multimedia because it brings life to a project. I guess a normal director would be important too.

Article C7: Animated Web Content & Web Animator Jobs

Thanks to this guy for the wonderful image that is featured on the front.

Web design can be really challenging at times, but there is a reason why it needs to be done. The internet is something that is really important to our daily life and getting important information for jobs and work. I bet you are wondering how we use the web banners in the modern landscape for a company. I think that it is pretty simple actually, they want people to know the company’s name, what better way to do it by putting it on any website even when it has nothing to do with the product, the graphic designers making these have to be smart about it. Now I will pull up some great examples online of animated web banners that are really good or really ugly.

5 different web banner ads I found online

National Geographics I Web Banner by Daniel Gom. on Dribbble
This web banner is for the TV channel National Geographic, this one has quite a lot to look at, it shows you every thing you need to know about it while looking pleasing to the eye and seamlessly looping for people looking at it. The colors are very tantalizing, while the photos that they chose make appreciate nature like they want you to.
McDonalds — Tom Fawbush
I do not need to tell you what this one is. This tells you what it is about successfully, but in terms of the animation itself, it is a little basic looking, but I suppose it is more about the food than it sis about it looking cool.
Web Ads and Banners — Yuping Qin
This custom web banner is not one of the best things I have found online when it comes to this article, the colors are alright I guess but it is a little to boring to stand out to me. The image in side the screen seems to be way to colorful compared to the colors they chose for the banner itself.
STARBUCKS ANIMATED ADS FOR POSUGAR - Peyton Leng/Graphic Designer
I do not have much to say about this one, but I think that it is really nice looking. It animates well too.
The First-Ever Banner Ad on the Web - The Atlantic
Okay this one just hurts my eyes, and does not make me want whatever they are selling.

Article C8: Making Animated Web Content

Featured image

So, we are talking more about animated web content, its a very interesting field, one that adds personality to your company and makes sure its not stale, but how exactly do they do what they do, well I have some information about how to actually start making it, Later on, I will talk about things you need to think about in terms of design logic. So here is some info from a journalist about how to get started with it.

HOW they do the things they do, the answer.

https://design.tutsplus.com/tutorials/how-to-make-an-effective-web-banner–cms-32610

The article in question is right here if you want read, below is an excerpt from the intro.

”Website banners: we see them every day, and they are a great addition to your marketing campaign. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make a banner. Banner designs and banner templates are composed of a couple of key elements: an offer and a call to action. You can add your logo if you’d like, and an image to enhance the message.”

“The offer needs to be concise and to the point. You have to let your readers know what you are promoting. The call to action is a text/button that will invite your consumer to your website. Short phrases like “Shop Now” or “Subscribe” are great anchors.”

-laura keung from design tuts plus.

The most popular program for making a web banner seems to be something called Fiverr. This is a codding program used for all sorts of web design. According to this other article I found, its one very popular program.

shoutmeloud.com/banner-ad-maker-software.html

“This is one website that I often use for getting the banner ad design done. There are many talented designer who are offering their design skills for hire. You can get animated HTML 5 banner ads in your brand design within matter of hours. This is perfect for busy marketers, who understand the benefits of outsourcing.”

Harsh Agrawal- of shoutmeloud.com

What is a Time line? What is it used for? And what is a Key Frame Animation? Who makes them?

A time line is where the frames of the animation are placed used to make the project come to life. You can layer then over each other to make the animation as cool as possible.

A key frame is the simplest form of animating an object according to this site: http://web.arch.virginia.edu/arch545/handouts/keyframing.html#:~:text=Keyframing%20is%20the%20simplest%20form,to%20some%20different%20final%20form.&text=This%20keyframe%20is%20%22Box%20at%20End%22.

It is simply based on the notion that an object has a starting state that changes over time, in all sorts of ways to put it bluntly. All web designers use this feature in some sort of unique way. Adobe animate, Motion Builder, blender, cinema 4D, Maya and Pencil 2D are some of many animation programs that use key framing.

Local Job Listing for a Web Banner Designer

“Description The Creative Group (TCG) is looking for an innovative and experienced website designer who is dedicated to creating elegant solutions for complex design challenges. Article C4: All about Website Wireframing

https://unsplash.com/@kellysikkema Featured image

Website Wire frames are basically drawing out your plan for how to navigate through the website or app U.I so that you can replicate it for the final project you end up making. Something you might end up doing for your site is something like navigating through the log in screen/ sign up screen, or helping you navigate to important sections of your app like the shopping section or what have you. The reason why we do this before the website is made is so that we can make it easy to already make if you know what you are doing.

Which is better for making a Wire Frame? Pencil and Paper, or an Adobe Program?

Before the rise in popularity of Adobe programs like Photo shop, Illustrator, and so on, there was a way of doing wire frames with out using technology. Drawing the wire frame on pencil and paper is something people used to do before this tech renaissance, while it is something that gets job done equally as well, it takes a bit more time to draw it on paper and then adapt it to computer, where as on an adobe software, you can draw it and import it to the wire frame with ease, and plus, it doesn’t waste resources. On the other hand, drawing it on paper is much less cost effective, and if a worker could not afford an adobe software, this could be the only thing they have access to. It really depends on the person, but I would rather use adobe to do wire framing. Now if you want a great example of wire framing so you can improve, I have 5 different examples for anyone reading this, so here you go.

Here are 5 Different Examples of a web site wire frame for you study

https://www.invisionapp.com/inside-design/wireframe-examples/

If you look at this example, it is a very straight forward and simple way of making a wire frame, this person just drew it all in red with a drawing program, its pretty effective, although if they all made a more detailed version, it would be even better.

This one right here is very slick, and I would say its a pretty good reference point, plus you can download it.

Wireframe Graphics, Designs & Templates from GraphicRiver
This one is quite simple as well, you don’t have to have a super detailed plan, put you could add some colors.
Ux Graphics, Designs & Templates from GraphicRiver
This does its job, but it looks kind of generic and bland.
UI/UX Design Sketches and Wireframes from Instagram
This is definitely the most detailed one i have seen so far, but as i said, I think its better on the computer.

Article C3: UI/UX Design, A/B Testing & the UI/UX Designer Jobs

Featured image; https://unsplash.com/@danielkorpai

So what is a U.I. even? To anyone not technologically inclined, this would not mean anything to you. A U.I. is a user interface, something that is used for various tech stuff, it is basically a menu or screen with a bunch of buttons on the screen for you to choose, these would take you to different parts of whatever your looking at, be it a website, or a game, and so on. Its just a way to navigate. So what I’m going to be talking about today are different kinds of web interfaces and how they help a web designer.

A/ B Testing; What is it for?

This another form of navigating on the web, but what is it for?

A/B testing (also known as bucket testing or split-run testing) is a user experience research methodology. [1] A/B tests consist of a randomized experiment with two variants, A and B.[2][3] It includes application of statistical hypothesis testing or “two-sample hypothesis testing” as used in the field of statistics. A/B testing is a way to compare two versions of a single variable, typically by testing a subject’s response to variant A against variant B, and determining which of the two variants is more effective.”

-Source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A/B_testing

If people are testing your web site. and it isn’t up to snuff, then you will probably need to revamp a bit of it, that is unless it is good. Having someone to test your website will usually work out most of the time.

U.I design and U.X are they different? How do they help with the A/B testing?

UX is different then the UI (which i explained above), it stands for User Experience. If I were to have the simplest explanation, it would be from this persons article about differences between UI and UX design. Here is an excerpt from it to give you an idea.

  • User experience design is the process of developing and improving the quality of interaction between a user and all facets of a company.
  • User experience design is, in theory, a non-digital (cognitive science) practice, but used and defined predominantly by digital industries.
  • UX design is NOT about visuals; it focuses on the overall feel of the experience.

SOURCE HERE; https://careerfoundry.com/en/blog/ux-design/the-difference-between-ux-and-ui-design-a-laymans-guide/

So this is the type of stuff that the tester is looking at to make sure your website is good.

Example of a local UI/UX Design Job

This one was from Robert Half, for this job they get a $90000.00 to $110000.00 yearly salary, and describes it as a fast paced environment where you need to be on top of things, while making the mock ups needed and for it to be simple as well. You also need to have Adobe experience. It shows that is indeed something you need to be very good at.

About the Design Brief Branding Guide

Featured image by me

I am coming to the end of the road for this project, the branding guide. This will mark my place in the industry, it is a collection of everything I have done thus far, so it has to all look good. It is not just putting everything together, they have to match and they have look aesthetically pleasing for the client. I am almost done with this thing, so i will tell you all about what i have done thus far. It is very difficult coming up with a good design for a branding guide, but i did find a pretty good inspiration.

It all started with an inspiration, Graphic Burger ended up being where I looked to start. The fourth one i found ended being the one I used for a reference. I definitely learned that I should have followed a grid for each of my projects, if I did, they would have been more pleasing to the eye. My least favorite thing to do was actually trying to find an inspiration for this thing, it was time consuming. I enjoyed typing the information about the company, it was very fun to come up with it. The most helpful tool i had was Google, to find all this info, despite it being time consuming.

There is a reason for all of this work I have to do, because a brand guide is standard for all types of businesses to guide new recruits working in graphic design on how the products should look and what rules to follow. They help all of the people involved in the company of whatever you are thinking of. I have been trying to follow guidelines of my own for the past few months for this class, not all of them has been perfect, but I have learned how to improve over the past few months. I will show you a few of my works that I am really proud of.

The work mark on her shirt was made in illustrator, it is in Go Go Poster Punch font, the 8 bit logo was also made in illustrator. They went through different revisions, I was not proud of most of them, but eventually i had found the perfect design for both.
This is my business card for Let, I followed a grid when I made this one, there fore making it look organized. The black and red color scheme makes me feel ready to play games.

Advanced Indesign Knowledge

Featured Image link above

5 of the most Powerful Tools in Indesign

Indesign is a very different software than both Photoshop and Illustrator, it is not something really used for artistic purposes. It is more similar to something like Microsoft Word, but it very useful, and has some interesting tools of its own. Let me list off 5 of the most useful ones in my opinion for you.

  1. Gradient Tool; This tool is for making a colored box that gradually blends from one color to another color to add an interesting look to your article. To use this tool, you have to press the box under the free transform tool and draw a line near a shape you placed when its selected to insert the gradient you want.

2. Rectangle/Ellipse/Polygon Tool; You want a block? A triangle? A star? Then these tools are what you are looking for. They can add some personality to your piece, to use it you must press the square above the scissors. to use the other tools attached to it, click and hold to see them and select which one you need.

3. Pencil Tool; This is for drawing a tool by scratch if your confident about your art skills. To use this tool, you press what else but the button that looks like a pencil, if you hold click on this, you will also get the eraser and smooth tool

4.Hand Tool; This is a very simple tool, and it is very useful. all you do is select the hand and then drag it across the screen to move the page. Here is a little tip for any new users, if you used the zoom tool and want to zoom out quickly, double click the hand tool.

5.Zoom Tool; This is the tool you use to zoom in and out (zoom out while holding the alt key) of the document at your leisure. To use this tool, press the magnifying glass on the side bar.

Pre-fligthing

Pre-flighting is the process of checking if the digital data required to print a job are all present and valid. Nowadays it are usually PDF files that are sent to a printing company. The PDF file format is a solid standard to exchange pages, ranging from single ads to complete publications.

https://www.prepressure.com/pdf/basics/preflight

E-pub/E-BookS

An E-pub, or more commonly known as an eBook, is a book that is on on a digital device. They started to become more popular around the mid 2000s. They were invented in 1971 by a man named Michael S. Hart. Most entertainment companies and publishers are paying designers to make these, and people would rather read a book that is digital than the real thing, and it helps to preserve them.
